DATE: February 21, 1989
SUBJECT: Council Agenda, February 23, 1989
ITEM: 8A. Consider an ordinance amending the current
Sign Ordinance to provide additional signage
near the Interstate Highway. (First Reading)
STAFF RESOURCE PERSON: Joe Vining
STAFF RECOMMENDATION: Approval.
This amendment will permit larger signs, within one hundred
(100') feet of IH -35.
The present ordinance provides for a maximum 40 square foot
sign for a single commercial development unless it abuts
IH -35, in which case, the maximum size is 320 square feet.
This amendment should be regarded as an interim soluation
only. A comprehensive review of the sign ordinance is
recommended to provide greater equity and flexibility
for all developments.
ECONOMIC IMPACT: None.
