Consider an ordinance amending the Traffic Code by removing stop signs on Round Rock West Drive at Bluff and Chisholm Trail. (First Reading) STAFF RESOURCE PERSON: Joe Vining STAFF RECOMMENDATION: Approval. The four way stop was established when SYSCO located their facility just north of this intersection. SYSCO generates the following traffic: 1.) 30-45 trucks per day (SYSCO delivery vehicles) enter and leave the site. 2.) 15-20 trucks per day (suppliers) enter and leave the site. 3.) 200 employees per day enter and leave the site. This traffic is less than the original projection of 300 truck trips per day. Staff contacted Mr. Gary Ross, Manager at SYSCO. He indicated that they did not require a four way stop for their operation but requested it due to their concern for general safety in the area. The warrants for a four way stop require traffic volumes of 500 vehicles per hour (average) over an 8 hour period. Present volumes are obviously substantially less than this required volume. ECONOMIC IMPACT: Cost of removing signs. Signs may be re -used at other locations.
