DATE: August 8, 1988
SUBJECT: Council Agenda, August 11, 1988
ITEM: 9B. Consider an ordinance amending the Traffic Code to include
stop signs at Woods Drive and Chaparral. (Second Reading)
STAFF RESOURCE PERSON: Joe Vining
STAFF RECOMMENDATION: Approval.
This ordinance will create an all way stop at the intersection of
Woods and Chaparral Drive. This intersection is the entrance to
the new Old Town Elementary School. Substantial peak hour
traffic will enter this intersection from both roadways.
In addition, this intersection will have a high volume of pedestrian
traffic to and from the elementary school at peak hours.
Consequently, an all way stop is recommended to assure the safety
of school traffic.
ECONOMIC IMPACT: The cost of installing three (3) stop signs. A fourth
sign will be added when the street is extended eastward.
