O-88-2333 - 4/14/1988ORDINANCE NO. AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 9, SECTION 14.A., SCHEDULE I, SPEED ZONES, CODE OF ORDINANCES, CITY OF ROUND ROCK, TEXAS, MAKING CERTAIN ADDITIONS AND/OR DELETIONS TO SAID SECTION; THEREBY DECLARING THE MAXIMUM PRIMA FACIE SPEED LIMITS UPON A CERTAIN STREET WITHIN THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF ROUND ROCK, TEXAS, PURSUANT TO AND IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE PROVISIONS OF THE "UNIFORM ACT REGULATING TRAFFIC ON HIGHWAYS" (VERNON'S ANN. CIV. STAT. ART. 6701d); AND PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE AND REPEALING CONFLICTING ORDINANCES AND RESOLUTIONS. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROUND ROCK, TEXAS: I. Based upon an engineering and traffic investigation and pursuant to and in accordance with, the provisions of the "Uniform Act Regulating Traffic on Highways" (Vernon's Annotated Civil Statutes, article except order on or 6701d), the City Council hereby determines and declares that when a special hazard exists that requires lower speeds in to avoid colliding with any person, vehicle or other conveyance entering a street or highway, the limits, specified in this section shall be lawful, but any speed in excess of the limits specified in this section shall be prima facie evidence that the speed is not reasonable or prudent and that it is unlawful. II. That Chapter 9, Section 14.A(6)., Schedule I, Speed Zones, Code of Ordinances, City of Round Rock, is hereby amended by adding the following: ON FROM TO Mays Street Milepoint 10.000 Business Loop 35 (Old Settlers Blvd.) Eastbound & Westbound A. B. III. All ordinances, parts of ordinances, or resolutions in conflict herewith are expressly repealed. The invalidity of any section or provision of this ordinance shall not invalidate other section or provisions thereof. READ AND APPROVED on first reading this the day of 17 , 1988. Consider an ordinance amending the Traffic Code concerning speed limits on Business Loop 35/Mays Street. (Second Reading) STAFF RESOURCE PERSON: Joe Vining STAFF RECOMMENDATION: Approval. The Ordinance amends the Traffic Code to designate a portion of South Mays a 40 MPH Zone. (Presently 45 MPH) It also corrects a typographical error in the last Ordinance setting the limits of the school zone. These changes were requested by the Texas Department of Highways and Public Transportation. ECONOMIC IMPACT: N/A
