O-87-2294 - 8/27/1987ORDINANCE NO. 2294 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 1 BY ADDING A NEW SECTION 34 ESTABLISHING A FEE TO BE COLLECTED FROM DEFENDANTS IN MUNICIPAL COURT WHO REQUEST A DRIVING SAFETY COURSE PURSUANT TO THE PROVISIONS OF SUBSECTION (a), SECTION 143A, ARTICLE 67O1d, VERNON'S TEXAS CIVIL STATUTES. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROUND ROCK, TEXAS: I. SECTION 34: FEE - DRIVING SAFETY COURSE A. The Municipal Court is authorized to collect a fee not to exceed ten dollars ($10.00) from each person requesting a driving safety course pursuant to Subsection (a), Section 143A, Uniform Act Regulating Traffic on Highways (Article 67O1d, Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes). B. The fees collected shall be paid into the City Treasury for the use and benefit of the City. Alternative 1. (First Reading) STAFF RESOURCE PERSON: DONALD L. WOLF STAFF RECOMMENDATION: APPROVE:. ECONOMIC IMPACT: Requests for driving safety in lieu of traffic conviction has always caused administrative cost on the part of the City. The past legislature has given the City the ability to recover those cost up to $10.00 per person.
