Attention: Jim Neuse
Subject: City Inspection Contract (concerning one story buildings)
Dear Jim:
Per our conversation back in September, I have come up with what
I think will be a suitable requirement for one story inspection.
After talking with several Professional Engineers (Structural) I
am convinced that the requirements below will suffice:
1) When primary load members are of structural steel quality (does
not include gauge material less than 3/16" thick).
Such as: -floor and ceiling supports (bar joist and girders).
-beam and columns (bolted & welded).
-moment connections.
2) In conjunction with the above requirement the following is also
applicable:: -when the building is occupied by a high volume of
people (1 or more per 1,000 square feet).
- when design requires a Professional Engineer and
his stamp.
- bolted connections require high strength bolts.
Please contact me if you have any questions or comments about this
matter. I assume that prompt attention will be taken to incorporate
this into the City Inspection Ordinance.
