AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 10,
SECTION 4.B.(1) CODE OF ORDINANCES,
ESTABLISH SEPARATE WATER AND SEWER
OF HOUSEHOLDS AGE SIXTY-FIVE (65)
CONFLICTING ORDINANCES AND PROVIDING
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE
I.
That Chapter 10, Section 4.A.(5)(b), Code
SECTION 4.A.(5) AND
CITY OF ROUND ROCK, TO
UTILITY RATES FOR HEADS
AND OLDER; REPEALING
FOR A SAVINGS CLAUSE.

of Round Rock, is hereby amended so that the initial sentence
said section shall read as follows:
(b) Except as provided in paragraph (d) below, the
following schedule of monthly rates or charges for
services furnished by the City's water system shall be
and such is hereby adopted and established as follows:

That Chapter 10, Section 4.A.(5), Code of Ordinances, City of
Round Rock, is hereby amended by adding paragraph (d), which
paragraph shall read as follows:
(d) For residential service located within the corporate
city limits where the head of household has attained
the age of sixty-five (65), the following schedule of
monthly rates or charges for services furnished by the
City's water system shall be and such is hereby
adopted and established as follows:
RATES FOR HEADS OF HOUSEHOLDS 65 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER
(i) Number of Gallons Monthly Water

1 - 20,000 gallons
20,000 gallons to
75,000 gallons
Use exceeding 75,000
gallons
$1.20 per 1,000 gallons
$1.45 per 1,000 gallons
used exceeding 20,000 gallons
up to 75,000 gallons

(ii) Except as provided below, in addition to the foregoing
rates, each user shall also pay a monthly water service
charge of $5.50 regardless of the amount of water used.
(iii) In the event that the head of a household provides proof
that he/she is eligible for Medicaid benefits as
determined by Federal guidelines and as administered by
the State of Texas, said household shall be exempt from
paying the monthly water service charge. Eligibility for
this exemption will be determined at the time of
application and on April 1, and October 1, of each year.
Heads of households receiving the exemption shall
immediately notify the City in the event they become
ineligible to receive Medicaid benefits. This exemption
shall not apply to users located outside the corporate
limits of the City. It shall be unlawful for anyone to
receive this exemption who is not eligible thereto.

of Round Rock, is hereby amended so that the initial sentence of
said section shall read as follows:

services furnished by the City's sanitary sewer system
shall be and such is hereby adopted and established as
follows:

That Chapter 10, Section 4.B.(1), Code of Ordinances, City of
Round Rock, is hereby amended by adding paragraph (d), which
paragraph shall read as follows:
(d) For residential service located within the corporate
city limits where the head of household has attained
the age of sixty-five (65), the following schedule of
monthly rates or charges for services furnished by the
City's sanitary sewer system shall be and such is
hereby adopted and established as follows:
(i) $1.20 per 1,000 gallons of water used for all
users.
(ii) Except as provided below, in addition to the
foregoing rates, each user shall also pay a
monthly sewer service charge of $5.50 regardless
of the amount of water used.
(iii) In the event that the head of the household
provides proof that he/she is eligible for
Medicaid benefits as determined by Federal
guidelines and as administered by the State of
Texas, said household shall be exempt from paying
the monthly sewer service charge. Eligibility for

V.
A. All ordinances, parts of ordinances, or resolutions in
conflict herewith are expressly repealed.
B. The invalidity of any section or provision of this ordinance
shall not invalidate other sections or provisions thereof.
