L'5-479 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AND ESTABLISHING FEES FOR BUILDING PERMITS, ELECTRICAL PERMITS, PLUMBING PERMITS, MECHANICAL PERMITS, SEWER TAPS AND WATER TAPS; REPEALING CONFLICTING ORDINANCES; PROVIDING FOR A PENALTY; AND PROVIDING FOR A SAVINGS CLAUSE. WHEREAS, the City of Round Rock, Texas has adopted by ordi- nance the Standard Building Code, the Standard Plumbing Code, and the Standard Mechanical Code, and WHEREAS, the City of Round Rock, Texas has by ordinance established certain permit fee rates, and WHEREAS, the currently established permit fee rates are insufficient to meet inspection and administration costs: NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROUND ROCK, TEXAS: Section 1: Building Permit Fees The formula for Building Permit Fees is hereby adopted and established as follows: A. $5.00 plus $.04 per square foot for every structure or portion of a structure which is under roof, whe- ther exterior or interior and specifically excluding any porch, patio, sidewalk, or driveway not under roof. Section 2; Electrical Permit Fees The formula for Electrical Permit Fees is hereby adopted and established as follows: A. $5.00 plus $.25 per electrical outlet as that term is defined in the National Electrical Code, including but not limited to any switch, receptacle, outlet, or lighting outlet. Section 3; Plumbing Permit Fee The formula for Plumbing Permit Fees is hereby adopted and established as follows; A. $5.00 plus $2.00 per plumbing fixture as that term is defined in the Standard Plumbing Code. Section 4: Mechanical Permit Fees The formula for Mechanical Permit Fees is hereby adopted and established as follows: A. A fee of $20.00 for new construction of each dwel- ling unit or dwelling unit equivalent. lows: B. A fee of $15.00 for re -model construction of each dwelling unit or dwelling unit equivalent. C. For the purpose of this ordinance, "dwelling unit" shall mean a unit of residential housing intended for occupancy by a single family. For non-residential construction, a "dwelling unit equivalent" shall mean: (1) construction containing 4,000 square feet or less, and (2) each additional 4,000 square feet. Any fraction of 4,000 square feet in excess of multiples thereof shall be considered another dwelling unit equivalent. Section 5: Sewer Tap Fees The Sewer Tap Fee is hereby adopted and established as fol- 360,00 A. A fee of $45.e7ae for each sewer tap installed. Section 6: Water Tap Fees The Water Tap Fee is hereby adopted and established as fol - 3c oo A. A fee of $0.8-0= for each water tap standard size water meter. As used dard size water meter" means either lows: utilizing a herein, "stan- a five-eighths inch (5/8") or a three-quarters inch (3/4") meter. B. For each tap utiizing a„non-standard size water meter a fee of $',�:- plus the actual difference in cost of the water meter used and the cost of a standard size water meter. Section 7: Repealing Conflicting Ordinances All ordinances, parts of ordinances, or resolutions in con- flict herewith are expressly repealed. Section 8: Savings Clause The invalidity of any section or provision of this ordinance shall not invalidate other sections or provisions hereof. Section 9: Penalty Clause Any person violating any of the provisions of this ordinance shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction shall be sub- ject to a fine of not more than Two Hundred and No/100 Dollars ($200.00). Each transaction in violation of any of the provisions hereof shall be deemed a separate offense and a separate offense shall be deemed committed on each day during or on which a vio- lation occurs or continues.
