AN ORDINANCE FIXING THE SPEED LIMIT OF MOTOR
VEHICLES IN SCHOOL ZONES ON CERTAIN STREETS IN THE CITY
OF ROUND ROCK FOR CERTAIN HOURS OF THE DAY AND CERTAIN
DAYS OF THE WEEK; ESTABLISHING A SCHOOL SPEED ZONE ON
THE STREETS IN THE VICINITY OF XENIA VOIGT SCHOOL, DEEP
WOOD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, CLAUDE BERKMAN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL,
ROUND ROCK MIDDLE SCHOOL, AND ROUND ROCK HIGH SCHOOL;
DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO ERECT SIGNS REFLECTING THE
SPEED LIMITS ALONG SUCH REGULATED ROUTES; PRESCRIBING A
PENALTY FOR VIOLATION THEREOF; DIRECTING THE CITY SECRE-
TARY TO PUBLISH THE ORDINANCE BY CAPTION IN THE OFFICIAL
NEWSPAPER OF THE CITY OF ROUND ROCK; PROVIDING FOR THE
EFFECT OF THIS ORDINANCE -UPON OTHER ORDINANCES OR PARTS
THEREOF.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROUND ROCK, TEXAS:
WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Round Rock has determined
that it would be to the best interests of the citizens of the City
of Round Rock, Texas, and th.e children attending the public schools,
and ,for their safety that speed zones surrounding the public schools
be created, and such facts create a need for the establishment of
speed zones on streets near and bordering such schools;
IT IS THEREFORE ORDAINED AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. It shall hereafter be unlawful for any person
to drive a motor vehicle at a greater speed than twenty (20) miles
per hour, during the hours between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m., during
the hours between 11;00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., and during the hours
between 2:30 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. of any day of the week from Monday
through Friday, both days inclusive, on th.e following designated
streets:
On Cushing Street, from its intersection with Logan Street
to its intersection with Gattis School Road; on St. William Avenue,
from its intersection with Lime Rock Drive to the existing Texas
Power and Light easement; and also on Deep Wood Drive, from its inter-
section with Lime Rock Drive to itsintersection with Lake Creek Drive.
Section 2. It shall hereafter be unlawful for any person
to drive a motor vehicle at a greater speed than twenty (20) miles
per hour, during the hours between 7;00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m., during
the hours between 11:00 a.m. and 12;30 p.m., and during the hours
between 2-:30;p®m. and 4:30 p.m. on any day of the week from Monday

through Friday, both days inclusive, on the following designated
street:
On Anderson Street, from its intersection with Nays Street
(Business U.S. 81), to its intersection with N. Lee Street.
Section 3. It shall hereafter be unlawful for any person
to drive a motor vehicle at a greater speed than twenty (20) miles
per hour during the hours between 7;00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. and during
the hours between 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. of any day of the week from
Monday through Friday, both days inclusive, on the following desig-
nated street;
Qn Lake Creek give from its intersection with R. M. Highway
620 to its intersection with_ Glenda Drive.
Section 4. It the intent of this ordinance to establish
a speed zone on the above designated streets in the vicinity of Xenia
Voigt School, Deep Wood Elementary School, Claude Berkman Elementary
School, Round Rock Middle School, and Round Rock High School.
Section 5. Any person violating any of the provisions of
this ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon con-
viction shall he fined in any suns not to exceed Two Hundred Dollars
($200.00).
Section ;6. The City Manager of the City of Round Rock, Texas,
is hereby directed to erect signs along such streets reflecting the
speed limit along the same in conformity with the laws of the State
of Texas, and of the ordinances of the City of Round Rock.
The City Secretary is hereby directedto publish this ordinance
by caption in two (2) successive issues of the official paper of the
City of Round Rock, Texas, and this ordinance shall take effect upon
the day of the second publication.
Section 8. All ordinances, and partsthereof in conflict
herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
