AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR REGULATIONS GOVERNING
THE CONSTRUCTION, ALTERATION, REPAIR, EQUIPMENT,
USE AND OCCUPANCY, LOCATION, MAINTENANCE, REMOVAL
AND DEMOLITION OF EVERY BUILDING OR STRUCTURE OR
ANY APPURTENANCES CONNECTED OR ATTACHED TO SUCH
BUILDINGS OR STRUCTURES; GOVERNING ELECTRICAL IN-
STALLATION INCLUDING REPAIR, USE AND REMOVAL OF
ELECTRICAL WIRING AND EQUIPMENT, AND ISSUANCE OF
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND PERMITS; AND PROVIDING
FOR THE ADOPTION OF THE SOUTHERN STANDARD BUILDING
CODE,1973 EDITION COMPLETE WITH 1974 AMENDMENTS;
PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF THE NATIONAL ELEC-
TRICAL CODE, 1975 EDITION; AND PROVIDING FOR
PENALTY -FOR THE VIOLATION OF THIS ORDINANCE;
PROVIDING FOR SAVINGS CLAUSE; PROVIDING FOR THE
EFFECT OF THIS ORDINANCE ON OTHER ORDINANCES OR
STATUTES.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROUND ROCK,
TEXAS:
Section 1:
The purpose of this ordinance shall be to secure
safety and protect the health and welfare of the citizens
of Round Rock, Texas, by providing regulations governing
the construction, alteration, repair, equipment, use and
occupancy, location, maintenance, removal and demolition
of every building or structure or any appurtenances connected
or attached to such buildings or structures; and to provide
regulations governing electrical installations including
repair, use and removal of electrical wiring and equipment,
and issuance of certificates, licenses, and permits.
Section 2:
Terms not defined in this ordinance shall be as defined
in the zoning ordinance and subdivision ordinance heretofore
adopted by the City of Round Rock, Texas.
Section 3:
A. The Southern Standard Building Code, 1973 Edition,
with 1974 amendments; by Southern Building Code Congress,
1116 Brown -Marx Building, Birmingham, Alabama 35203; is hereby
adopted by reference and all regulations, parts, notations,
references and specifications therein are hereby adopted and
made a part of this ordinance except as deleted or amended
hereafter.
B. The National Electrical Code, 1975 Edition, NFPA
No. 70-1975, by National Fire Protection Association, 470
Atlantic Avenue, Boston, Massachusetts 02210; is hereby
adopted by reference and all regulations, parts, notations,
references and specifications therein are hereby adopted and
made a part of this ordinance except as deleted or amended
hereafter.
Section 4:
It is hereby declared to be the intention of the City
Council of the City of Round Rock that the sub-sections,
paragraphs, sentences, clauses and phrases of this ordinance
are severable, and if any of them shall be declared
unconstitutional or invalid by the valid judgment or decree
of any court of competent jurisdiction,. such unconstitutionality
or invalidity shall not affect any of the remaining sub-sections,
paragraphs, sentences, clauses or phrases of this ordinance
since the same would have been enacted by the City Council of
the City of Round Rock without the incorporation into this
ordinance of any unconstitutional or invalid sub-sections,
paragraphs, sentences, clauses or phrases.
Section 5:
Any person violating any of the provisions of this
ordinance shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction
shall be subject to a fine of not more than Two Hundred and
No/100 Dollars ($200.00).
Each transaction in violation of any of the provisions
hereof shall be deemed a separate offense, and as a separate
offense shall be deemed committed on each day during or on
which a violation occurs or continues.

Section 6:
All ordinances or resolutions in conflict herewith are
expressly repealed.
