R -04-04-22-14E1 WHEREAS, the City of Round Rock ("City") collects a hotel occupancy tax for the purpose of promoting tourism and the convention and hotel industry in the City, and WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that there is a need for a Convention and Visitors Bureau to assist in the furnishing of facilities, personnel, and materials for the registration of convention delegates and to advertise and conduct solicitations and promotional programs to attract tourists and convention delegates to the City, and WHEREAS,in order to accomplish the aforesaid tasks and goals, the City Council wishes to establish a Convention and Visitors Bureau to be managed and operated by members of the City's staff, Now Therefore BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROUND ROCK, TEXAS, That the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to create a division within the City to be known as the City of Round Rock Convention and Visitors Bureau in order to accomplish the tasks and goals outlined above. Funding: Cost: N/A Source of funds: N/A Outside Resources: N/A Background Information: Public Comment: N/A On December 18, 2003, the City Council adopted the tourism plan presented by Destination Development as a guide for Round Rock's tourism efforts. In the adopted plan Destination Development recommended the City establish a Convention and Visitors Bureau.
