WHEREAS, S 1. 1402 (4) provides that the City Council may issue a
permit to conduct an organized competitive archery event, and
WHEREAS, the Williamson County Archery Club ("WCAC") has made an
application for a permit to hold three competitive events on June 26
and 27, July 24 and 25, and August 21 and 22, 1993 , and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the WCAC has provided
evidence that adequate provisions have been made to ensure the safety
of the public, spectators, participants, and property, and
WHEREAS, the WCAC has provided evidence of insurance coverage in
compliance with S1. 1402 (4) (c) , Now Therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROUND ROCK,
TEXAS,
That the Council hereby authorizes and directs the Mayor to
execute a permit to the WCAC to conduct three organized archery
competitive events, a copy of such permit being attached hereto as
Exhibit "A" .

PERMIT FOR COMPETITIVE ARCHERY EVENT
Pursuant to the provisions of Section 1.1402 Code of Ordinances,
(1990 Edition) City of Round Rock, the City hereby issues this permit
to the Williamson County Archery Club to conduct three organized
competitive archery events. The permit is for the daylight hours of
June 26 and 27, July 24 and 25, and August 21 and 22, 1993 . The
location is the Club's property located on both sides of Chisholm
Trail, South of FM 3406 and North of Onion Creek.

STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
In order for the Williamson County Archery Club to hold three competitive
events on June 26 and 27, July 24 and 25, and August 21 and 22, staff recommends
that the Council authorize a special permit to WCAC to conduct these events. This
will allow the Club time to get their required permanent permit without having to
cancel their summer competitive events.

Purpose:
The purpose of the Williamson County Archery Club is to promote .
archery as a safe and fun family activity. We encourage the spirit
of good sportsmanship and fellowship. The W.C.A.C. wishes to
continue to help preserve our environment through conservation and
to be a supportive part of our community.
Membership:
1982 - Founded by a handful of individuals interested in archery.
1993 - 149 Family memberships have been issued.
Associations:
Charter member of the National Field Archery Association
Member of the Texas Field Archer Association.
Supporters of the Lone Star Bow Hunters Association.
Safety:
Accident insurance through the National Field Archery Association.
Safety Record - No accidents have occurred since inception.
Space Requirements - 50 acres of land is sufficient to maintain
safety standards.
Government - Cooperate with the federal and state organizations.
Membership Activities:
January - Annual banquet, awards ceremony and election.
Spring - Picnic, BBQ, and fun tournaments.
Monthly - Club meeting of officers and interested members.
Monthly - Public tournament held 4th Sunday of each month. Field
range with 30 - 40 portable 3-D targets.
Daily - Practice range with targets at marked yardage from 10 to 60
yards and field range of 30 targets at unmarked yardage in a
large circular path. Open to members only 365 days a year.
Special Activities Open to Public:
Monthly - Public tournament held 4th Sunday of each month (approx.
150 shooters, ages 4 to 100)
Benefits - Benefit shoots held periodically, to raise monies for
families in need do to financial hardship from unexpected causes.
Demonstrations - Lessons in archery and archery safety provided for
church youth groups and scout groups. Have provided archers for
the Weblo's Arrow of Light Ceremony.
.Benefits to Community:
Revenue - Tournaments generate revenue for local businesses such as
hotels, restaurants, and tourism.
Environment - Help to preserve our environment through conservation
and recycling.
Community - Provides a fun and healthy activity for families and
youths in the community.
