RESOLVED this 9th day of August, 20 NY E Mayor City of Rcfund Rock, Texas A T: . AJ A CHRISTINE R. MARTINEZ, City Secretar 0:\wdox\RESOLUTI\R70809B1.WPD/r c DATE: August 2, 2007 SUBJECT: City Council Meeting - August 9, 2007 ITEM: 8131. Consider a resolution authorizing the City Manager to issue a purchase order to Texas Electric Cooperatives for two dual-voltage electrical transformers for the Raw Water Pump Station. Department: Water/Wastewater Utilities Staff Person: Michael D. Thane, P.E., Director of Water/Wastewater Utilities Justification: The purchase of these dual-voltage electric transformers has arisen due to the improvements currently being made to the raw water intake facilities on Lake Georgetown. Construction of the improvements to the raw water pump station is currently underway. These transformers will provide the adequate electrical service to operate the new facilities and accommodate a future change in electrical voltage supplied by Pedernales Electric Cooperative (PEC). Funding: Cost: $60,000 Source of funds: Self Financed Utility Fund Outside Resources: N/A Background Information: These electrical transformers were bid both as single and dual-voltage transformers. There was a $4,778.35 difference in the price of a single versus a dual-voltage transformer, which is a $9,556.70 total difference for the two transformers. The difference in price was not sufficient to warrant purchasing the single voltage over the dual-voltage, especially due to the electric source supplied by PEC being changed in the near future to the higher voltage. That change would require upgrading to different transformers. Purchase of the dual- voltage transformers will allow the City to simply switch the voltage mode to convert to a change in the voltage provided. Public Comment: N/A ....... .. ... ._. .. ...
