WHEREAS, the City of Round Rock has duly advertised for bids for
the Distribution System Pressure Improvements, High Country P.R.V.
Station and IV-6 and IV-7 Bypass, and
WHEREAS, Benitez Construction, Inc . has submitted the lowest
responsible bid, and
WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to accept the bid of Benitez
Construction, Inc . , Now Therefore
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROUND ROCK, TEXAS,
That the Mayor is hereby authorized and directed to execute on
behalf of the City a contract with Benitez Construction, Inc . for the
Distribution System Pressure Improvements, High Country P.R.V. Station
and IV-6 and IV-7 Bypass .
The City Council hereby finds and declares that written notice of
the date, hour, place and subject of the meeting at which this
Resolution was adopted was posted and that such meeting was open to the
public as required by law at all times during which this Resolution and
the subject matter hereof were discussed, considered and formally acted
upon, all as required by the Open Meetings Act, Chapter 551, Texas
Government Code, as amended.

ITEM: 15.F.13. Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute a Contract
with Benitez Construction, Inc.for the Distribution System Pressure
Improvements, High Country P.R.V. Station and IV-6 and IV-7
Bypass. Bids were received and opened at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday,
August 28, 2001. The low bidder was Benitez Construction, Inc. for the
amount of$123,500.00. This project is to upgrade the southwest and
southeast areas of our water distribution system, which is necessary to
deliver adequate water pressure and sustained fire flows to the Forest
Ridge, Fern Bluff, and Brushy Creek areas during peak summer
demands.

History: This project is to upgrade the southwest and southeast areas of our water distribution
system, which is necessary to deliver adequate water pressure and sustained fire
flows to the Forest Ridge, Fern Bluff, and Brushy Creek areas during peak summer
demands.
We received seven (7) bids with an average bid of $153,309.50. The high bid was
$183,000.00 from Nelson Lewis and the low bid of$123,500.00 was from Benitez
Construction, Inc. This project has a construction time of 75 calendar days.
Funding:
Cost: $123,500.00
Source of funds: Self Financed Utility Construction Funds
Outside Resources: HDR Engineering
Impact: To maintain the integrity and reliability of our water systems ability to meet fire flow
demand during peak summer demands.
Benefit: To minimize the potential of system failure, which could result in critical water
shortages putting to our customers' health and safety at risk.
